These choc orange oat balls are basically a healthy flapjack in a ball shape…how did I ever think of that? These are just like regular flapjacks just a much healthier alternative, and still beaming with flavour, a mini choc orange party in your mouth! This recipe is very versatile, I’ve found replacing the choc chips with raisins works great. These mini balls of delight come with a warning though as you will want to constantly go back for more, I’ve often been found with one each cheek, kind of like a hamster, except there is no chance I’m storing them for later!

Yields: 9 Golf ball sized balls


100G Rolled Oats
50G Protein Powder (I used PEScience Vanilla select protein)
15G Chia Seeds
75G Chocolate Chips
75G Peanut Butter (Smooth or Crunchy, either works)
Zest of 1 Orange
1 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
15G Honey
3-5 Tbsp Liquid (Milk or water)


This recipe is as simple as combining everything in a bowl. I would recommend adding the liquid 1 Tbsp at a time, until the mixture begins to clump together like wet sand. Next roll the mixture in your hand in to a gold ball shape. A good tip is to wet your hands so the mixture does not stick to them. Once all your balls are rolled out, place them in the fridge for 30 minutes to firm up. These will keep in an air tight container for up to a week, if you can resist them for that long! 😉
